Coffee Tips and How-To's!

There's always a lot of debate between who's coffee is better…. Starbucks or Dunkin??

I used to be VERY picky and only go to Dunkin Donuts for Iced Lattes and Starbucks for Hot. Over time, Dunkin kept giving me iced coffees that had full sugar crystals so it felt like I was drinking crunchy coffee!!

I switched to Starbucks and found my "go-to" coffees….

⤏ Iced Caramel Macchiato with extra pumps of vanilla (some days I would add extra shots of espresso)

⤏ Pumpkin Spice Latte during the fall (Guilty!)

⤏ Vanilla Latte with extra vanilla or Caramel Latte with extra Caramel

During my college semesters I ended up putting around $100 on my Starbucks card every month and it was getting pricey!

I decided I needed to make my own coffees and lattes

I have a Keurig latte maker with milk frother

⤏TIPS⤎

If you are using a Keurig DO NOT use an espresso pod or k-cup, the drink will taste more watery and lack a strong coffee taste

I suggest getting a reusable K-cup and a strong espresso roast (I use the Starbucks Dark Espresso Roast) Pack the K-cup full!

Do NOT put the hot coffee in the fridge or freezer to cool down (a lot of people do it to as a way to get the coffee colder faster, but putting hot coffee in the fridge creates a film over the coffee and takes away from the fresh taste)

⤏ Steps for making Iced coffee ⤎

First, mix hot coffee and sugar/ sweetener to melt the sugar crystals

Add in creamer or whipping cream

You want to use a thicker creamer so the whole drink doesn't taste so watery

The thicker the cream you put in, the more full and complete the drink tastes (One of those taste you have to experience yourself!!)

Add in any flavor you want and mix (I usually use vanilla extract)

Poor hot coffee over a full cup of ice (I make sure that the cup is filled to the brim with ice to make sure the iced coffee is COLD- Sometimes I make more coffee than a full cup w/ice can hold, so I drink a couple sips to make room for more ice)

⤏ Steps for making Iced/Hot Latte ⤎

- Fill two k-cups packed full with dark ground espresso beans

- Add sugar/sweetener into the two shots of espresso

- Mix in any flavoring (Again, I use Vanilla extract)

- I have the Keurig latte maker that comes with a frother so I froth the creamer or whipping cream (I use just enough creamer to turn the coffee tan)

- Just like iced coffee, fill a tall cup to the brim with ice and poor the hot coffee over

For both iced drinks, the COLDER the BETTER!

I definitely suggest a large tumbler
