Hi Everyone!
Happy Thursday! In honor of me not being able to sleep at night, I wanted to take time to update you all on this crazy journey!
I'm officially 25 weeks and feeling some CRAZY kicks. Baby Pollitt is the size of cabbage and VERY active. He definitely sits low in my belly and is big enough that when he sits low, I feel a TON of pressure. I didn't start getting back pain until the past week and that is most of what's keeping me up at night. I need to work on finding some major relief at night and during the day. My body has been running extremely hot, also keeping me awake at night, so some nights it helps to fall asleep with ice packs--as I was laying in bed last night, I realized that this may be the end to me ever sleeping comfortably or through the whole night--
I don't know if it's just me, the season, or if this is common during pregnancies, but I KEEP GETTING SICK!! It's just been colds, but they've been back to back!! I tried the Starbucks medicine ball (supposed to work miracles when you're sick) but I couldn't finish drinking it...They use steamed lemonade and that was the taste that I had the hardest getting through. Everyone's taste buds are different, so I'll have to find another miracle drink for me 🤷🏻♀️
Dave and I were given a crib and dresser from close friends and we couldn't be more grateful! Both are dark brown wood, but I really wanted baby's room to be grey and white. We decided to go ahead and sand down the furniture and repaint it grey, so that's our current project! I'll do more updates on the nursery and repurposing furniture later on. We still have plenty of time. There's still A LOT that has to be done in the house to pull it together and make it feel like a home, so I would rather focus on that first before I move onto the nursery. I want to make sure I can give the nursery my full attention because I can already tell I'm going to be so protective over that room!
Current Questions I Get Asked
How are you feeling?
╳ Most of the pregnancy was pretty easy (besides my constant migraines through the first trimester), but now I've finally reached the point of being physically uncomfortable 80% of the day. I can't curl up in a ball like I used to, getting out of the car and bed has gotten more difficult, I'm getting winded walking up and down stairs, and definitely tired a lot. I was going to the gym for awhile, but between getting sick and no sleep, it's been more challenging.
Do you have a name picked out yet?
╳ We currently have two names picked out, but we're going to take our time deciding. Once we do decide on a name, I don't think we are going to share our decision until a lot closer to when the baby is due or until he's born. It's a big decision and making a commitment to a name is a big deal with a lot of pressure!
Have you had any cravings?
╳ I really haven't have a lot of cravings, if anything, I've been fixated on one snack or food item for about a week and then move on. Dave hasn't had to make any late night food craving trips.... YET.... I haven't noticed myself staying away from specific foods either. It's all been pretty normal! I did go through a period of time preferring salty food over sweet (one of the old wives tales said craving salty foods indicated you were having a boy, so I guess that one was right for me!).
╳ I know it's suggested against having sodas during pregnancy, but sometimes I drink soda instead of coffee, so I can still get caffeine and prevent headaches. I always grew up drinking diet sodas, but switched to regular sodas as I got older. Now being pregnant, baby doesn't like regular soda! I've had to go back to drinking diet because I taste too much of the syrup and the flavor is overwhelming.
When are you due?
╳ I am due May 26, 2020, but knowing my child, he's going to come whenever he wants and his entrance to the world will be dramatic or lengthy. I can't imagine a child of mine making this easy for me! We have 15 weeks until the due date, but he could come sooner!
Are you nesting yet?
╳ I don't notice any intense nesting yet, but I'm sure it'll happen here in another couple weeks! I'll be protective over the nursery and ms. clean and tidy!
Can't wait to keep updating you as we get closer to meeting Baby Pollitt!
